"The gods have not been kind, not least the devilish SPL computer which decrees that St Mirren must go about their business on New Year's Day in Inverness.

Are they mad? Ne'erday, in the good old days, was derby day. Do they possess a map in the SPL offices in Hampden?"

These are the words of Chic Young on the BBC website.

At this week's meeting betwen the Trust and the football club I asked the question why this game was taking place on New Year's Day.  Surely, the 2nd would suit more fans of both clubs.  The answer is simple.

ICT wrote to St Mirren suggesting the game be put back 24 hours.  St Mirren have been back in touch saying they are unwilling to change so the game has to go ahead on the 1st.  This seems a great shame to me and I'm sure it will inconvenience quite a lot of fans.  If you fall into that category, you know who to blame.

Oh, and if you hear Chic Young spouting such nonsense again in the coming weeks, perhaps someone would put him right.

St Mirrens derby team is The Greenock Morton and last time I checked Morton don't play in the spl so what the feck is 'The Voice of Scottish Football' ?????? on about.

This time we will be waiting for St Mirren. Presumably Chick Young will now spend Hogmanay in Hootenannays? Presumably Rossco and some of our loyal supporters will then pick him up and carry him through the harbour area to the game singing him a range of Rod Stewart songs on the long painful journey.

The reason St Mirren have put forward for refusing to change the date of the fixture is, "we cant trust our players not to drink on hogmanay so we will take them to Inverness and stay over the on that day. That way we can keep an eye on them."

After initially slating Mirren fans on P & B apparently they tried earlier to get the date changed but ICT refused.

Mirren then booked accommodation in Aviemore for coming up the road.

Guess you can see why they don't want it changed now.

Yeah, they've already organised a night out with FW  :015:

Why not find out where the St Midden team are staying and spend all night outside singing, dancing and letting off fireworks to keep them awake and put them off thier game? After all it's what we normally do at New Year.  We could tie wee Chick to a rocket for good measure and send him up into the night air. :015: :015:

It almost seems that you would sooner trust Midden fans version on P&B over your own club's board members.  Strange.

Not neccessarily a case of trusting the Midden fans more David more a case of there appearing to be more to this fixture confusion that is being revealed to both sets of fans.
