You getting your facts from football manager?? :015:

The reason they are going into administration is becasue they have one of the highest paid squads in the Championship... there is no chance of us getting any of their first team.  Might be worth checking the youth and reserve team though

we cant settle for just being a small annoyance in the highlands(coz thats how we are viewed) we need to be a contender! even if its good quality old tmers or young guns we cant just carry on with middle of the road players

Their is a huge difference in growing the team and becoming a "contender" and commiting financial suicide by signing up players you can't afford.  I believe ICT are about ready to step things up in terms of signings and the wages they pay but it will be a long time (if ever) before the clubs economic situation could justify the kind of spending it would take to sign the players you are on about.

v good point coronationcages.we need to sign bigger players.we need more money available.

Oh yeah...somebody else tried that approach...err Livingston, went bust eventually and now look where they are.

rosscoe23 and coronationcages seem to have an incredably simplistic and niave view of the way football works. Ffor instance where do they expect the money to come from. Presumably they expect some rich businessman to come along and splash out millions of his own money just to improve theyre Saturday afternoons entertainment.

y cant we get big investers?because we're still a very small club thats why.we are just gonna keep staying a crapy team who play for nothing if we keep this way.our highest fee 4 a player is around £80,000.thats poor.we'r stable and we can spend more money on players.

roscoe.... 1994 - Inverness Thistle and Caledonian FC, playing in front of a few hundred fans, both fail to win the Highland League.

1995 - Caledonian Thistle progress to Division 3 of the Scottish League and finish 6th.

1996 - Caledonian Thistle reach the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup.

1997 - Inverness Caledonian Thistle win the Third Division and go up to Division 2.

1999 - Promotion to Division 1, losing out on the Division 2 title at the last gasp.

2000 - ICT survives a major financial crisis due to overstretching. Just avoid the receiver thanks to the setting up of the ICT Trust to sideline over £2M of debt and a huge investment by Tulloch.

2003 - semi finals of the Scottish Cup.

2004 - Semi finals of the Scottish Cup, challenge Cup winners, Division 1 title winners and promotion to the SPL.

2005 - ICT hotly tipped for relegation but survive in the end quite comfortably. SPL football brought to Inverness by the construction of two stands, borrowing £1.2M in the process. 2006 - just miss the split. Finish seventh.

I suspect you may be just that little bit too young to have a full overview of the progress Caley Thistle has made in the last 13 years and therefore don't understand that the club is actually quite fortunate to have come as far as it has in that time. Further progress, especially major, would require a whole lot more money.

How much of that would you be prepared to provide by a huge increase in the cost of a season ticket? Or do you expect some mystery businessman to step in and subsidise your fantasy of taking Leeds United players to Inverness?

For ICT to pay 80k for a player is pretty amazing considering not so long ago we were still relying on free transfers. Any money we have we used to budget for wages and other expenditures that the club will incur.

We're not going to spend all of the money on buying players unless you want a seriously unsustainable club like Gretna or one that goes 'bust' like Dundee and Livi.

Whereas if we were to follow your ideas we'd go the same way as Airdrie.

Coronation Cages :  :32: - there is no need for abuse - this thread has been reported to the admin/mods and we will monitor it. If it continues we will review posting privileges.

The same applies to anyone who feels the need to resort to personal abuse on these boards. Discussion is fine, disagreement is also fine, but resorting to inserting a post simply to call people names or tell them to 'go away' is not acceptable.

Why?

We have done very very well to get where we are, we are solvent the fan base is growing-slowly, why dont you take a couple of mates to the game..more fans equal more money, better players - get it?
