Well done getting Ross Savage and Ross Chalmers. Just need some support for Billy. Do you think Ross McCormack would be interested?

SEASON 2025-2026 SQUAD

With Administration under control and just the dotting of the i's and crossing of the t's to be scrutinised, we have started building a squad capable of getting us back into the Championship.

Some familiar faces re-appearing in Joe Chalmers, last here in season 2018/2019 and guys like Paul Allan and Remi Savage coming back for more alongside our experienced players in Danny Devine, Billy Mckay, Luis Longstaff. There must have been a 'three for the price of one' offer on Ross' amongst our new faces in right back Ross Millen, GK's Ross Munro and Logan Ross from County. They will all blend in with our already established youths like Mathew Strachan, Calum Macleod, Robbie Thompson and Adam MacKinnon. We have also secured some talented youths/academy players on contracts which will see us through this season. Jake Davidson is still on the books although he was in re-hab most of last season.

Big players that we will miss this season are Musa Dibaga off to Ireland and Charlie Gilmour off to Dunfermline along with Keith Bray. Lewis Nicolson has taken a break from football as he recovers from his injury. Ethan Cairns is off to Banks o' Dee. We also had to hand back some talented loan players who helped us through the Admin season. Take a bow Alfie Bavidge, Alfie Stewart, Ben Brannan, James Nolan, Connal Ewan and keepers Marcus Gill and Aidan Rice and a couple of keepers from the highland league in Martin Mackinnon and Corey Paterson amongst others.

It’s great to see business being done this early and Allan and Savage sign on again.

We still need some more new faces, either signed or loan players, but it gives optimism for the season ahead.

I can’t wait!

Tremendous to see the squad shaping up nicely at such an early stage - almost unheard of in these parts.

A full squad pre-season might see us getting a couple of good results in the Cup games.

Remi signs with us again, confirmed.

Delighted this lad has signed on for another year. Might be the difference in achieving promotion position (direct or playoffs) this season.
Best / most significant signing so far in my opinion. Still need a proper striker; not a kid!

A really big week for us just finishing and a massively successful one. A striker and a winger in before we kick a competitive ball and i'll be happy. Would like to see a couple more in as the window continues, though.

Fear that's the nature of the beast outside of the top-flight, particularly in the Championship and with full time teams in League One, you can't risk long term contracts as it's so easy to get pulled into a relegation fight and suddenly you've got high wages for the next 3 years with reduced revenue. I've seen people argue that clubs should follow Celtics model, get in young hungry players and then sell on for profit, but again doesn't work with our smaller league structure where 6 out 10 teams are involved in either relegation or promotion, you need players to come in and be a success so you end up looking for experienced players on short term deals to ensure safety or the playoff push etc. if the leagues were expanded and there was more scope for mid table safety then I think clubs would push the boat out more for young players

That's why relegation clauses exist.

I was more making an observation than a criticism as I get that we're still in a bit of a transition and some uncertainties remain, so we'll be proceeding with positivity, tempered by caution on the financial side.

Signings so far all looking good.  A couple more solid 'starters' and a few eager guys looking to get a spot and keep them on their toes and we'll be in good shape come the competitive games.

It appears to be fairly common knowledge that David Wotherspoon is a target.

Yes please.

I wonder if, due to his preferences and our cost control, any chance of signing him would involve him staying in the central belt and travelling up once or twice a week?

Type of player you'd happily allow miss a day or two of training each week!

Agree, but it sets a poor precedent and potentially ill feeling with other players.

Personally, I sit in the camp that would say that if a player wants to be here, then they need to commit to properly moving here.

Terry Butcher, arguably the best recruiter we've ever had (via Steve Marsela), was very strict on this. He had a formula for recruitment that went way beyond ability on the pitch, and it's no surprise a good few of his signings still live in, and are involved with, football in the area.

I'm very satisfied with how we're going about our business this transfer window, it's very encouraging that we are getting as much done early 🙂🙂.

Of our next business is David Wotherspoon, Jordan Alonge or Charlie Frost and Carlos Heredia then that would mean that we won't need as many loan players to complete our squad imho.

Not sure if anyone knows as it would have been mentioned here but does anyone have ideas who the defensive trialists were on Saturday?
