This must be the shortest matchday thread ever!!

Can I just take this opportunity to express my delight that Ross County will now survive in the First Division this season after their stoppage time winner at Falkirk (short of an inconceivable 11 goal defeat by Cowdenbeath next Saturday)?

A Highland team in the SPL and one in the First Division is a major asset to the game in this area.

(I am prepared to accept a mixed response to this sentiment on this forum!)

You can if you post it in the correct forum teacher.

This is the correct forum  ..... remember the matchday thread is there to "Discuss this and other games from today in here ...". ITs the one time we do allow and encourage non-ict discussion within an ICT thread .... our version of open all mics .... "open all threads"

What a godawful game. What a godawful place. The end of season tedium fest that was anticipated on Monday arrived today. I'll post the match report later if I can muster up the enthusiasm.

Dire, dire, dire, dire, dire.

I hope thats summed things up well. Without Foran, Hayes and Duncan, this side lacks any bite. We got pushed and bossed about by Aberdeen at times. Today things such as straight forward passes and first touches were forgotten about and we went back to the indecisive, pussyfooting ways.

Despite one hurrendous error in the first half that fortunately was not grabbed by Paton the only player that really stood out for me was Kenny Gillet. He worked his socks off closing down attackers and doing his best to create stuff from the back. At one point he made 2 perfect tackles before playing a superb ball over the top for Rooney who struck it just wide of the post. Gillet himself also hit a cracking shot from about 35 yards which was inches of the top corner.

The scrap between stewards and supporters reared its head again today and resulted in several supporters being thrown out, rather harshly. If fans are told to sit down then fair enough but all i will say is it would be rather hard to follow such a command when the home supporters are doing the exact same thing and are simply ignored by Stewards.

For me the only positive to come out of it is the thought that i know we our better than this and hopefully are game will be sufficently upped for the visit of Celtic.

C'mon Manfer. Let's get a bit of Highland solidarity going against the Central Belt hordes!

The SFL made TWO excellent choices in 1994. They have BOTH done the Highlands credit ever since, remembering the sterling efforts of the rest of Scotland for decades (Ferranti etc) to keep our entire area out of national football.

So whom do you prefer - Ross County or Ferranti?

Couldn't agree more. Nothing wrong with local rivalry AND highland solidarity!

Both clubs in the upper echelons of our game can only be good for the area.

Good grief, that was ninety minutes of my life I'll never have back. It was a woeful game which Aberdeen won by being slightly less abysmal than us.

With the sunshine, the sparse support, the lack of atmosphere and the apathy on the pitch that could easily have been mistaken for a pre season match.

We only really managed two clear cut chances - Rooney had a smashing effort wide from an acute angle early in the second period, then Sutherland drew a fantastic save from Langfield later on. But Aberdeen spurned numerous opportunities, particularly a glaring one-on-one miss by Michael Paton.

As far as I could tell, blame for the goal rested mostly on Rossco's shoulders - he got far too tight to Pawlett who turned him easily and beat Esson.

Tactically we were very poor - MacDonald didn't seem to know if he was playing in a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1; Ross and Cox were overrun in central midfield, especially as Maguire came deeper in the second half. That game was tailor-made for Russell Duncan - who came to the away fans at the end and handed his soggy shirt to my mum, which was a nice gesture.

Worth noting that Odhiambo made us look a lot more dangerous when he came on - I wouldn't be surprised if he starts against Celtic.
