Seen County when I was at the gym today and it seemed that they had there squad in place for next season and were back in training, I know that Morton were back in training this week as well, I realise that our boys might be getting a bit longer as their season finished a bit later but are we going to be lagging behind those that have their squad in place and have started training together already ?

We're allowing four weeks before our first competitive game and six weeks to the start of the league season. I think that should be enough considering we have a squad of professionals who will not have given up on fitness training over the close period.

Nope.

Most of our squad is already in place and holding off for a bit longer we see some what some SPL teams do regarding the Setanta/money situation whih may be of benefit.

Patience good sir, patience!

Would the club have told them what to work on through out the summer? Keep to the same diet, keep going to the gym etc......

Not to the same extent they still have things to go by but its not so tight but its mainly up to the players they should be proffesional enough themselves too make sure they dont get too out of fitness things like that

No doubt their new assistant manager will be working closely with them on their fitness levels.

In reposnse to the original question. I believe we are behind schedule in terms of signings. As per usual we're sitting and waiting for players to play us like idiots (remember the Dargo fiasco). At this stage I would have hoped that we would have signed more players up by now as the squad looks ridiculously threadbare. Can anyone name a midfield 4? McBain and Duncan is all I can think of right now (although we do have Gavin Morrison and Dale Gillespie).

Hopefully, the slowness of getting the squad together is simply a by product of the setanta fallout and we are waiting to see if any SPL players become available.

Personally I am just delighted that Butcher is back and at the helm. This is a real BIG chance for him to really prove himself as a coach, a manager and a motivator. He talks the talk but he aint exactly been a raging success. Now is the season to show his worth.

I reckon that the strong rumours about Butcher and Falkirk have led to some players waiting to see if he was still going to be around and I suspect that they would be more reassured talking to him about their futures and the clubs instead of listening to the ramblings of one of the muppets.

hoprfully Brewster if firing out the fines as well as the laps. :(

The SPL season finished two weeks later than the SFL season so I've no problem with our boys being a bit later back to work than some of the other division one sides.
