It was 10 years ago today that we won the Scottish Cup.

What a day, what a team, what memories!

Indeed.

On the way out, someone said to me "Whatever happens now, we'll always be in the history books!".  Prophetic!

If you're here, take a bow, because we nearly were just a memory in the history books

It was a wonderful occasion for us. Vincent’s late winner and then the final whistle were incredible moments. However I didn’t enjoy a lot of the game though. I hated being favourites, the game was tense and the second half wasn’t going our way even before the red card. It was emotionally draining, but ended well!

Oh and I still think Watkins should’ve passed!

I seem to remember being directly behind him and saying out loud "don't shoot, don't shoot"

He did and the rest is history...

We stood by them, and they stood by us

Same here. But then the keeper parries it out, I see Vincent running in and in the space of about a second (felt like a lot longer at the time)  the thoughts in my head were:

Is he going to get to it?

He is going to get to it.

He got to it.

It’s in!
[Bedlam ensues]

Still got goosebumps watching the highlights this morning! Always remember thinking Watkins shot was tamer than what appears on the highlights and the ball being parried away further wide but probably the angle we weren't at. Don't think I'll ever get back into Hampden for a fiver again haha

Biggest team effort the club will ever have witnessed....on the park, off field staff, and fans.

A culmination of 10 years work that brought everything together that season.

And well done to those who must have spent hours putting out the sheets of cardboard for our display - it looked so good too.

Main organisers were @Fraz and @highlandexile who put in hours of planning. Then a big squad on day to put the card out.

Was a brilliant if hectic time. Happy memories of the laughs in the town shop and the constant stress of sorting buses

I was looking back at the team line-ups and how far they went with their careers. Ryan obviously the stand-out with his success in the EPL and 59 caps. Shinnie also went on to a higher level, the EFL Championship and got a few Scotland caps too.

In the Falkirk side, Will Vaulks was their best player at the time and on the day itself, and he’s had a really good career with various EFL Championship sides and got a few Wales caps too.

A curious one is Botti Biabi. After the final he got a big move to Premiership side Swansea for a 6 figure fee, but never played for them and after a few years was back here in the Scottish lower leagues, then Brechin in the HL. And now, still only 29, Drumchapel Utd can boast a former Scottish cup finalist in their squad!

Let’s all head to Bucharest in July for a reunion.

The cup final was amazing but as someone said earlier, it was hard to enjoy with what was at stake being the favourites. The pinnacle for me was that trip to play Astra.

We've fallen a long way since those heady days, but not as far as Astra.  They were dissolved in 2022 after their owner was jailed for money laundering the year before. If ever there was a lesson on the importance on basing the club's future on a secure financial footing ...

@ANDYCAM being accosted by security at Astra's place, hampering filming plans (and they refused us a link to/copy of their stream, even though we were entitled to it)...in fact, it was total mayhem behind the scenes there for everyone!

The lift broke down with Martin Dowden (BBC) and myself in it....between floors!  Eventually got the doors open and had to squeeze out (literally as I was a much heftier bloke then).

They'd obviously had a heads up about our social media and we were warned before kick off about saying anything that might be viewed as derogatory.  Couldn't get access to their network, so had to cobble together a mobile connection and use the most dodgy operator I've ever seen!!  All the equipment (ours and teams) got thoroughly searched and swabbed at customs on the way home.  Changing rooms had to be locked during the game as they couldn't guarantee nobody (including staff) would try and steal everything.  A baptism of fire for Jack who was learning the ropes as kitman at the time.  Police escorts everywhere.

I never complained about visits to the more remote Scottish Grounds after all that 😂

For balance, the team and playing staff were amazing and courteous.  They actually did more to make sure we were looked after than the mafia-esque people running the club at the time.

But I wouldn't change any of it.

This season doesn't even come close, IMO...but a view I don't think is for discussion on here.
