BBC Scotland quoting Yogi as saying the Wigan offer was just too good to refuse!

Eh? For Billy maybe (financially), but we'll need to see whether ICT even break even on the deal (depending on how many league postitions it costs us).

Seen it quoted that we are receiving closer to the 200K mark plus freeing up Mckay old wages as he could have been one of the top earners at the club - so Yogi is probably right.

Hopefully, like the Butcher, Billy will be having second thoughts. His international and effective playing career could be badly damaged in a team being substantially rebuilt mid-season by their latest manager, Malky Mackay,to prevent it heading into Division 1. It is an enormous challenge and in my view Billy deserves far, far better. It is the complete opposite of what he has in Inverness. Malky and his Chairman have both been subject to controversy in the recent past.

I do not begrudge him a really good move because he absolutely deserves it.

Blackpool are virtually certain to be relegated and Wigan do look vulnerable to join them.Even Don Cowie is on the way down!  Malky is not Roberto Martinez and with a dramatic clear out since he arrived he now has to rapidly build a new team with the risk of an FA sanction still possible. The environment does not look good even on much higher wages for Billy.

If another bid does not come in during the window, Billy is likely to score a lot more goals before the end of the season and then pick a far better option for next season. Meantime he would cement his Northern Ireland place.

Don't do it Billy.

Trust in Mr Hughes to find us a loan striker of quality. Remember the one he found for Falkirk. Young Irishman who scored his first goal at TCS and went on to score 14 goals in 16 games for Falkirk during his period with them. Sadly 4 of those goals were against us. Anyway, who knows, with his contacts he could well unearth another Anthony Stokes.

...but, hopefully, one a little bit more careful about the company he keeps,,

It'll be interesting to see how he gets on (if the deal is finalised). Malky Mackay hasn't exactly had a great start there.

Hate seeing ex-players of ours with some other top in their mitts! Ah well, good luck to the lad and I hope he does really well and that he doesn't end up in league 1. I would really have liked to have had the chance to cheer him off on Saturday, but not to be!

I wish Billy all the best,I am sure he will do well, he might even grab Soccer Saturday headlines too. Enjoyed all his goals while they lasted. But now we move on and as IHE points out, Billys Boots will be filled.
