1 pint of John Smiths

1 Pint of cream

9 ounces granulated sugar

2 teaspoons cocoa powder (optional but recommended)

10 egg yolks

Mix sugar, cocoa and Egg Yolks in a bowl

Put Cream and John Smiths in a pan and bring slowly to boil.

Slowly add the hot cream mix to the bowl an whisk constantly and quickly till all liquid is added,

Return to the pan and keep whisking while you cook it like you would any custard.

Allow it to cool then whack it through an ice cream making machine.

Enjoy  :001:

When I was in Australia I had Coconut Ice-Cream.  And I don't think anythings beaten it since and you can buy it at the House of Bruar now though I don't think theirs was quite as good.

Has to be Dutch Dreams in Toronto .... best Ice Cream EVER ! Home-made, generous helpings, and each cone has fresh fruit and freshly whipped cream added to the top of it after the ice cream. Milkshakes come in 1L tubs not cups and everything they sell tastes marvellous.

The best ever ice cream I've ever tasted was from a street trader in Venice but, good as it was, it wasn't worth the severe stomach difficulty the befell me as a result some distance from the nearest public convenience only hours later.

I always remember a shop in Grantown, gorgeous home made icecream, if we were good (which wasn't very often! :crazy07:) we got taken as a treat!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Is this thread making anyone else hungry?  :015:

I had an Irn Bru ice-cream just before we flew to spain - was cracking, yet at the same time, i missed having my all time fave of mint choc chip!!!

Rum and raisin is ok, but mint choc beats all...
