Ode to Barry

O?er breakfast in the Wilson house Bob say?s ?you cannae play?.

You?re just too young to make your mark on this important day.

The tears welled up inside the boy till Mum was heard to say

Bob if you don?t include the lad I?m cooking no more tea.

Baz took the road from Dingwall to St Mary?s Southampton

He got a little homesick so came back to County?s town.

Two years he stayed to learn his trade then headed down to Fife

Brought under Jimmy Nicholl?s wing to start a brand new life.

In ninety six Steve Patterson came looking for the lad,

Who?d played for Raith in Europe, to become a Caley Jag

He done a job as striker just before they sold him on

A hundred thousand smackers from the mighty Livingston

Three years had gone then back he came to play for Robertson

An asset to the Caley team he became our favourite son

There?s never been a more loved player who wore the red and blue

Takes time to talk with any fan a real gent through and through

He scored the very last goal of the old millennium

Then started of the new with one against the Livingston

One hundred and eleven goals throughout his whole career

Whenever Barry Wilson plays the fans will shout and cheer.

Sadly now the years catch up and though he?s still quite fit

It seems some think he?s maybe lost the power in his right foot.

But we all know that Barry can, and will, return once more

To lead the mighty Inverness and settle many a score.
