Bring Back Attacking Football

It's plain to see that one of the major factors that led to Brewster's and ICT's downfall was this ultra-defensive long ball rubbish. Yesterday's game seemed to be punt-tastic as well. How many times does it have to be down to be proven that it simply doesn't work and never has for ICT. If ICT want to get back to the SPL, they're gonna have to punt it, if you know what I mean. If I were boss it would 4-4-2 way next season and 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 at home, playing the ball to the wings the way the team used to do under Pele, and keeping the ball on the deck. Discuss.

This was the topic of some conversation yesterday. When we were down against Hamilton a few weeks ago before the split, we were running the game with 10 men, and scored. Yet, yesterday, we waited until Falkirk pulled ahead, before we chose to mount a concerted attacking formation - 4 up front for the last 10 mins - and got more on target than we had in the rest of the game. Yes, the Bairns may have dropped back, but they still needed another goal t be safe. Attacking football is all about confidence, something that has been in short supply this season.

Good strikers are expensive, hence there relative absence in the lower half of the SPL. Brewster's biggest error was the wholesale clearout of strikers in his early days, leaving us with Rory McAllister and Barrowload. Hopefully next season will allow Rooney, Wood, Imrie and especially Morais, if he's still here to play their own games and shine.

Have to agree, yesterday was, yet again, a bit of punt fest. Foran and Morais tried in vain to win high balls but the likes of Scobbie and Aafjes generally won. This tactic has been done to death this season and has not worked. When we did threaten the ball was on the ground. It does appear that Butcher favours this type of long ball tactic and picks players accordingly hence punt meister Djebi-Zadi and thats possibly why he has stuck with Munro to supply the ammunition.

Midfield will need a revamp if we are to get the type of good passing play that Pele gave us. We lost Cowie in January and Black is also away, of those signed in January I can't see many of them staying on so I would like to see the youngsters given a chance, the likes of Vigurs, Gillespie and Morrison are capable of playing football on the ground where the ball should be put them along side the experience of Duncan,McBain and Imrie. A confident midfield supplying ball to the feet of Rooney and Barrowman is whats needed, dump the punt.

That is quite a stupid statement have u seen Djebi-zadi? long ball is the last thing he does he either tries to beat everyone with his amazing pace and skill or passes
