Next Seasons Numbers

Now that ICT are back in the SPL, each player will be given an individual number. I presume Esson will take the number 1 shirt, despite being number 23 last time. Will Tokely go back to the number 2? Will Hayes take the number 11? Will Golly go back to his old number 3 shirt? From the article about the new signings on the official site, it looks like Max Johnson will take the number 22 shirt, while Gil Blumanshtin the number 18. And also, surely Rooney will go back to the number 9. He better, or his song would make no sense! Discuss.

we are fickle people for lucky numbers etc etc, so i think players do look to have particular numbers. Esson will want No1...Certain clubs retire numbers when players retire. I think one the big Spanish clubs retired the number 7 shirt when a player retired..might have been Raul

What difference does it make ? Is it really that important ?

Some people like to get a strip with their favourite player and number on the back.

And there in lies the following question, when does the new strip come out?

We should do the numbers alphabetically by surname, like the Dutch teams in the 1970s. That was very cool and would give us the following numbers:

1. Gil Blumstein

2. Lee Cox

3. Russell Duncan

4. Ryan Esson

5. Richie Foran

6. Stuart Golabek

7. Jonathan Hayes

8. Max Johnson

9. Roy McBain

10. Gavin Morrison

11. Grant Munro

12. Eric Odhiambo

13. David Proctor

14. Nick Ross

15. Adam Rooney

16. Dani Sanchez

17. Graeme Shinnie

18. Shane Sutherland

19. Ross Tokely

I like to think that the numbers 1 to 11 are taken by the players the manager feels are his best starting 11. By the end of the season when there is nobody on the pitch with a number under 12 you can see just how wrong he was.

well i dont really care with regards to numbers as i am working my way through family birthdays and always get my nickname on the back but i do like to see them with the name and number on the back on the park as i always think it looks better

They should do it by wage packet size. You can see the unity it would bring.

Duncan (as he punts the ball over Foran's head for a goal-kick): "You should have got to that Richie............................................................

.........................with the wages you're on"

Great for the supporters too as they demand one of the high earners gives back his pay as he sits on the bench.

No number for Shane Sutherland.

Could present a refereeing problem if we play both No 12's.

Or by how much he learned from his earlier mistakes, like last season.
