With St Johnstone and Ross County both being confirmed last night to be in the top 6. What are the fixtures going to look like

County - Away

Celtic - Away

Motherwell - Home

St Johnstone - Away?

???? - ????

Assuming Killie make the top 6 we would have 4 away games and 1 home game. County would be in the same boat as us. One of the 4 games will be changed to a home tie. Our tie with County is their only home tie so that rules them out. I reckon we will get either Celtic or Killie changed to a home tie.

Yeah, if Kilmarnock are the final team to be confirmed, it will mean an imbalance. Looks like we'll have 3 home games against a team and likewise, 3 aways against a team.

We'll probably be given 2 home and 3 away which at least would make an even split over the season of 19 home and 19 away!

St J  A

Celtic H

Kilmarnock A

Motherwell H

County A

If it pans out like that then surely it would be the shortest walk in history of the Highland Marchers - Inverness to Dungwall. Unless they go via Wester Ross.

Actually, we will go via Wester Ross if we get Dingwall.  Already done the route planning just in case a few months back.  Out to Beauly, then follow the Highland Cross route to Kintail, keep going to Kyle.  (It would be rude not to spend the night in Skye as well) double back over the bridge, head north up towards Kishorn then East through Wester and Easter Ross down into Dingwall!

Just being nosey: How many Munros will you bag on the way?

Yet to sort out the finer details (especially since we may not even be going to / from Dingwall),  However there are quite a few on the route.  The Five Sisters of Kintail are in our way - three of which are Munros, which have to be climbed.

Doing my very own SPL calculator formula I have worked out the most logical matches.

Assuming Kilmarnock are the 6th team to join top 6...

ICT are due to play

1 home, 4 away.  Home:  Well.  Away:  County, Killie, Perth, Celtic

County are also due to play

1 home, 4 away.

Home:  ICT.  Away:  Killie, Perth, Celtic, Well

Killie are due to play

4 home, 1 away.  Home:  ICT, County, Perth, Celtic.  Away:  Well

Perth are due to play:

3 home, 2 away

Home:  ICT, County, Well.  Away, Kille, Celtic

Motherwell are due to play: 2 home, 3 away

Home:  County, Killie.  Away:  Perth, Celtic, ICT

Celtic are due to play: 4 home, 1 away

Home:  County, ICT, Perth, Well.  Away:  Killie

teams with imbalance of fixtures are:

ICT, County, Celtic, Kilmarnock

ICT and County have too many away games.

Killie and Celtic have too many home games.

Perth and Well do not need to change.

So this means that (logically)to give ICT and County the 1 home game they need, there's 2 teams that can swap their fixtures.  Killie and Celtic.

Therefore, Celtic and Killie have to go to Sneck and Dingwall (it doesn't matter who goes where).  This means all teams have either 3 home and 2 away or 2 home and 3 away.

Now, ICT and County would then have 2 home and 3 away.  They cannot play home games on the same day, so it may be a case of one team having fixtures of A,H,A,H,A and the other having something like A,A,H,A,H.  Of course if they timetables to have a Saturday / Sunday fixture this wouldn't be an issue but that is up to the TV companies after the fixtures are made.

I tried to calculate the fixtures using all the variables I could think of.  But with this set of teams in the top 6, 1 team could get screwed with 3 away games on the trot.  I got as far as 4 teams and then it all went to pot each time.  I think this could be the most difficult to predict fixture list.

According to Jailender(Ross County fan on Twitter) All teams have to play 19 home games in the season, therefore We would have 2 Home and then 3 away where as County would have 3 at Home and 2 away.

Press Release on SPL site: http://www.scotprem.com/content/default.asp?page=s2&newsid=12222

Given that four clubs can still clinch the final top-six place, and the need to liaise with police and broadcasters, it is our intention to publish the post-split fixtures at some point on Monday April 8. Games will be played on the weekends of April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11 and May 18.

Jailender forgets this isn‘t the Fizzy Pop League. It doesn‘t work like that.

How long does it take them to run the computer,

yes Dundee Utd did get in when all thought was Killie

Just do not want Celtic  away ( or home if that is our 2nd home match) on the 1st weekend

best for us  would be Motherwell  Celtc first weekend I think  unless Motherwell win!
