I had a read through the European section of this article and am still no clearer as to if we can qualify for Europe or not.

splstats.wordpress.com.

It says that 2-3rd definitely qualify

Scottish Cup winners qualify

4th qualify if Scots Cup winners qualify via League.

So at moment, Aberdeen and Motherwell definitely qualify so what happens if United win Scots Cup as they are 4th, does that mean we qualify if we finish 5th?

Game's a bogey, I'm afraid. Looks like around 70 points will be needed for Europe: that would mean us needing to win all of our remaining games. 4th might get a European spot, depending on cup winners, but we're not good enough just now to get 4th.

1 Champions league spot, 2 Europa league places from league  and 1 Europa leage places from the Scottish Cup and thats it.

Scotland are ranked 22nd

Round 1 place goes to 3rd league spot

Round 2 place goes to League runners up (2nd) AND domestic cup winners.

League winners goes to Champions league.

"When the domestic cup winners also qualify for the Europa League through league position, their place through the league position is vacated. As a result, the highest-placed team in the league which have not yet qualified for European competitions qualify for the Europa League, with the Europa League qualifiers which finish above them in the league moved up one "place" if possible."

An Aberdeen v Rangers cup final would be good,  as soon as the semis are won you would know if 4th place gets in to round 1,instead of waiting for the cup final. This is also better for the 3rd place team as they then jump in to the round 2.

As far as Im now concerned.  A European cup place is a taboo subject, its back to basics and all about playing for pride and points the way it has always been.
