A new season, a new start

Buddha once remarked on the enormous impact of perspective on human psychology when he said, "life is a creation of the mind."Good olde Shakespeare put it this way when he said "there is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so." And then there is the famous saying - "what you see is what you get." What a lot of posters on here have to understand is that mvong out of the "black and white" and in to the "grey" is about accepting that how one lives their life has direct influence on how we see things around us.

Perspective influences everything. We do not see our lives in purely objective terms. We are subjective creatures. We see through a filter. We have biases. As I like to say - and do on a regular basis - everyone has a personality. And that personality alters our perceptions. Introverts see life differently than do extraverts. Pessimists have a different take on life than optimists or even the rare realists (like maself).

For me, the easiest way to decipher is to look at where and how the groups separately. For the most part, pessimists believe that no matter what they do things will turn out the way they will turn out. They anticipate a negative outcome so why should they spend money on technology that at the end of the day won't make a difference. So for pessimists who see the world--bah humbug and all- The people in charge had better solve the problems at hand because failure might be right around the corner.

Optimists - "happy clappers" - on the other hand, think that the world is full of opportunity so despite what they see in front of them they will shoot for the stars. The people in charge are viewed as being geared toward innovation because they recognize that the world as it exists today could be much much better tomorrow so why not get ready for it now.

Somewhere in the middle sit the realists who are--not surprisingly--often the most difficult to define much less analyze. Realism is not as easy as the half full or empty glass because every analysis is dependent on the changing situation at hand. Understanding the people in charge for realists is more difficult because they are driven by changing dynamics that determine if they solve for today or solve for tomorrow.

Tell ya what try two things - try and respond to Mannie's post with a combination of negatives and positives. Then test yerselves (especially the angry Lybster loonie)
