Did Adams really say that?

I really hope then don't make it. Imagine the seethe and excuses then!

You really hope we drop points?

Let's look at what you're wishing for.

For United to make top 6 they need to win both games

Dundee Utd v St Johnstone   3 points

Dundee Utd v Aberdeen         3 points

For St Johnstone to then finish above County they'd need at least a draw against Caley and for County to lose both their games.

St Johnstone v Inverness       1 or 3 points

For Hibs to finish above County, they need to beat us and Celtic.

Hibernian v Inverness             3 points

Hibernian v Celtic                   3 points

County will have to  lose to both Killie and Hearts for your scenario.

So to recap, six games must have a certain team win and one other game must have a certain team not win. I'd be putting money on that if I was you because the odds must be really favourable.

Personally I'm looking forward an SPL top six derby against the shadows to determine which one or both of us goes on our travels in Europe next season.

Where did I say I wanted to drop points?

Deekwatch:

Adams on the BBC sport site: "We could have been here until tomorrow and not scored.

"But in the end, we're a step closer to top-six football after the other results."

What other results would that be then Derek?

2nd placed Motherwell beating bottom club Dundee perhaps?

Or Aberdeen (chances of making top 6 as slim as a gnat's chuff) beating Hearts (already condemned to face bogey side Dundee for a fourth time) maybe?

Any other games on today I might have forgotten?

Well, there was a game in Edinburgh where the result certainly suited County!  Of course, Adams has not got the class to refer to it directly.  Had the boot been on the other foot you can be sure that our manager would have acknowledged our neighbours had done us a favour.

That shyte would choke before he says anything gracious about his bigger neighbours, i hope they scrape into the top 6 and we play them and win 1-0 with a dodgy pen.   oh that would be sweet.

However more importantly, a win vs Perth saints could see county top six, wonder if gobshyte would say anything then?

league table as it stands if DUFC see off St Johnstone tonight

post-2-0-15444800-1364847623.png

*assuming Killie beat St Mirren on WED, they would go to 44. So going into fixture 33 it would take 4 specific results for County to f*** it up !!!

66 - Celtic

53 - Motherwell

50 - ICT

45 - County

44 - St Johnstone

*44 - Killie

43 - DUFC

On the last weekend

  • County lose. A draw is all they need to ensure top six.
  • St Johnstone beat us - they go to 47pts - ahead of County who drop to 5th
  • Killie beat Dundee - they also go above county on 47. county drop to 6th
  • DUFC beat Aberdeen - DUFC leapfrog County onto 46 - county drop to 7th.

Personally, I am not up for letting St Johnstone win so as far as I am concerned, we will guarantee them a top six finish before they kick a ball on Saturday !!!!

One other scenario is all of that happens but we draw with St Johnstone (rather than losing).  In which case they move onto same points as County.  As things stand, St J have 1 less goal difference and County have scored more goals.  So if we all the other results occur and we draw with St J, County would need to lose by 2 or more goals to Hearts.

I'm all for beating St J by 4 goals or more so that we we move back into 2nd place and 8 points ahead of County on Friday.  If that means County make top 6 then so be it.  As long as we are above them at the end of the season I couldn't care where they finish.

so here's the table ....

post-2-0-87872700-1364849881.png

Top 5 now guaranteed a top 6 finish. 6th-9th will fight it out for last spot and even that may be irrelevant if Killie have a good win on Wednesday.

Us to win (big) on Fri V St Johnstone   (53)

County to lose Sat to Hearts  (45)

St Mirren to win Sat V Motherwell  (53)

Celtic to lose to Hibs  (66)

DUFC/Aberdeen - irrelevant

Killie to lose to Dundee  (41)

that would be a good week
