Dunno where this has come from but we are not 20 yet!

Heard it on BBC Radio Scotland this morning, and there was an interview with Charlie Christie on same at lunchtime. Thistle voted 33-12 while Caley voted 55-50 apparently.

Born in Muvversmell and working in Morayshire - what would you expect !!

Born in Lanark if you please  :cheer01:   and working in Inverness  :cold:      But I appreciate the diplomacy my old friend

Yes I know. I attended the Caley meeting. Personally I would think the first game or registering of the merged club would be our birthday.

How many birthdays can you have ?

No matter,  We at this moment in time are the best team in Scotland just twenty years on so who cares.

Congratulations to all at ICT,  management, players and all concerned at ICT including supporters both positive and negative  :ictscarf:  :ictscarf: :ictscarf:

Tell us more about that meeting OCG.

Johndo you can catch Nicola MacAlleys piece on the stv news last night on the stv player. Won't let me post link sorry! You can even catch a glimpse of me standing at the tunnel at Telford St! This is a much more balanced piece than the bbc one IMO (sorry Charles)

The 20th birthday of the club will - in my mind - be the date when ICTFC (or CTFC then) were accepted into the league as an entity, or the date we signed all relevant paperwork to 'form' the club just ahead of that vote. I dont know what date that is, perhaps Charles or someone can confirm? The 20th anniversary of our first game is not our birthday, it is a milestone IMHO.

(incidentally the same debate rages at Toronto FC! Many places list the club as formed in 2007 when it played its first game in MLS, but I already had my season ticket number in October 2006 after the club had been accepted into MLS and had started looking at filling out the not-yet-built stadium and recruiting staff and players!

The 20th anniversary of CTO will be in June 2014 !!!

When we were accepted into the SFL, it was on the basis of "a club yet to be formed" so we didn't actually exist (in current guise) at that time.

Inverness Thistle & Caledonian Football Club Ltd was incorporated on the 17th February 1994 and officially started trading on 1st June 1994.

As we technically came into existence on the 17th February and replaced the "club yet to be formed", I imagine that will be the date used to mark any anniversary.

Apologies for inadvertently re-opening old wounds. It certainly wasn't my intention.

I've never experienced a merger, (just outsourcing then redundancy ), and hopefully never will - so I can only guess the emotions of 20yrs ago.

I have to ask tho:  1. Was the merger a condition of acceptance to the SFL ?   2. Would you rather have made application individually ?  3. If yes to 2, would either Caley or Thistle be playing Premiership football right now  ?   4. What was the deciding factor in being a Caley or Thistle or Clach fan ?
