Gretna v Celtic

Kingsmills

Yes like the rule that stopped Falkirk going up and the one that stopped us playing in Perth, you cant ground share with a club outside the SPL.  Why the h*ll are they putting Gretna further away from their home town?  I think a new record low could be made when we visit on the 5th.

Just saw a report on ITV scottish news that Gretna players are threatening a strike reporter said that this would mean the game is canceled and Gretna would undoubtedly fold. It's sh1t being an ICT fan at the moment but I do feel sorry for the half dozen or so "real" Gretna fans.

The problem is a big headache. There is such a backlog of games to be played in the next couple of weeks. Even Motherwell dont know if they'll be able to sort the pitch problems in time. The SPL clubs closer to Gretna have home games to contend with so Almondvale is the nearest non SPL stadium of the required standard. Their US heating was only mothballed, not decommissioned, and can be re-commissioned within a couple of days. What I wonder is who is paying for the venue.

Why couldn't the SPL use common sense more often as they have now increased the flexibility of which grounds can be shared, if they allowed this from the start of the season Gretna might still be OK.

They probably could have achieved far cheaper ground rent with increased competition.

Carlisle would have been the wisest option but the SPL wanted full control over the fixtures which has now completely backfired.
