ICT -V- Rangers : matchday thread

Black was treading water in the second half and was obviously not 100% fit. I guess he was told to last as long as he could today.

Disappointing but lets face it entirely predictable result. Things might have been different if we'd taken one of the first half chances.

Sadly the game was over as soon as Rangers scored.

I think everyone got right behind the team today despite the current circumstances and I only heard a few muted cries for Brewster to go at the end. Of course the fact we were playing one of the OF in a live televised match kind of makes this game irrelevant in terms of his managerial ability!

Another worrying statistic is that our goal difference advantage over Hamilton has evaporated over the last few weeks I'm sure you were 10+ goals better off than them a few weeks ago :rotflmao:

It will be interesting to see how the team perform next week, for example, as I doubt they will be as 'up' for that game.

Black didn't have his best game, I wasn't surprised when he was taken off, gave Vigurs some time in central midfield though he fell apart a bit (having been excellent).

Barrowman was a revelation - I hope it wasn't just the cameras.

But unfortunately it's not against Rangers and Celtic we have to perform, its against teams around us in the table which means packed midfields and scrapping for the ball. Rangers had 4 upfront most of the first half (ie including Davies and Novo) so there was plenty of opportunity to play the sort of nice football we saw in the first 45. It'll be all so different against Partick and Hamilton and we just don't seem to be able to do it against those sorts of teams. Hope I'm proved wrong...

McBain did play well, especially in the first half. Duncan did what he does best...won the ball then gave it straight back to the opposition. Black and Cowie just weren't with it in my opinion. Vigurs showed some great moments, but drifted out of the game too much for my liking.

The defence....ok, except Tokely, who was mince.

And as for Barrowman, sorry, I can't agree with whoever said he had a great game. He was woeful again. He just isn't up to it.

We are in dire trouble, and the only thing that'll get us out of this is a new manager. Simple as.

Another miserable depressing game in the p*ssing rain, with little for the fans to cheer!

Getting really sick of all this now!

Proctor was awful - too busy ball watching to spot the 2nd goal!

The only reason it was 0-0 at half time was because Rangers were absolutely guff!

Thought it was very interesting to see the Police head straight for Brewster at Full Time,

I'm sure they don't usually have to have a "presence" there! Darted straight down the tunnel!

Really swithering about going to the Patrick Game, don't have the heart to keep watching that

idiot destroying our team! :rotflmao:

Dead-Ball-Specialist asks,

" I actually said to my mates at half time "what are the odds of us undoing all that good work and conceding our trademark soft goal in the first 5 minutes?" Wham bam thankyou mam that's exactly what happened and as usual"

I got on at 17/2 at half time for next goal 45min-49min59sec.

The Mendes goal was very special and for those who do not know too much about him here's a CV.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Mendes

My take on the goal, which was stunning, was that after Rossco missed out, Procter had a split second to make it 50:50 but stood off, this created space, Blackie slipped, and the rest is history. Stuart Garden's half time warm up with Essen was as useful as the shilling put in the meter for today's electricity supply. Essen had no chance.

The players were superb in the first half, did not lose heart after the goal, but after Barroman's powerful shot (he looked likely to score today), we fell for a sucker punch. I kinda feel Procter was left by Boyd who to be fair, finished brilliantly. Heads did go down a bit but the third, which appeared to result after a push on Hastings, was too late and deflated everyone.

The players must take heart from this game and with Pressley in the back four next week, I hope we work to the death to try and eke out a result against a strong Partick team. The history of ICT includes some key games against them in the cup. They hold the edge. We may have won the legal battle but this game might well determine if we are headed back to the First Division. The critical thing is we all stick together and EVERYONE INCLUDING MALKY recognises that it is a crisis. Then we can figure out how to solve it. Brew believes it is a few new faces to freshen things up. Even he must realise two defeats, and he has to walk especially if Pressley plays in these and despite his influence we screw up.

BREWSTER OUT! Any excuse for today is just b*llsh*t as everyone knows that a team raises its game against the OF just because it is the OF. Why don't we play like we did in the 1st half every week? Oh wait... because it isn't the OF. BREWSTER CAN F*CK OF NOW! I hate going to TCS these days and not because I don't like losing, if Caley put up a fight, didn't lose goals in the 1st 5 mins of the second half, and looked like they cared as they did in the 1st half of todays game... but because of Brewster! The total **** and tactically inept person we have as a manager. Proctor must be doing something right of the park as I have no idea why when Duff came on he wasn't moved to right back WHERE HE SHOULD BE and Duff into the center. Pathetic. The 1st half was good... but over all, PATHETIC.

LOVED THE 91 MINUTE SILENCE TODAY AT THE GAME..

ITS NO WONDER WE ARE WHERE WE ARE WHEN ALL I CAN HEAR IS THE AWAY SUPPORT SINGING...

WE SHOULD ALL HAVE OUR HEADS IN OUR HANDS

If we had all been singing away then we would have missed their lovely renditions of The Famine Song and BJK. :rotflmao: On a more serious note, I agree - it was scarily quiet today but you can't exactly blame the home fans for not wanting to sing.

I thought we did very well in the first half though but we returned to our recent form in the second half. MacBain had a great game, thoroughly deserved his MOTM.

thought we played well first half but we tired the second...vigurs was superb for 50 minutes but tired, to be expected though as he hasn't played in three four weeks. black and cowie average, mcbain played well. we're in some serious trouble though...

Vigurs and McBain did well. Didn't think much of Barrowman, but I never do. I'd start with Rooney, he is the biggest threat we have. Wood is a good target man but Rooney always looks lively.

Ross Tokely was absolutely dire today, abysmal. He should be dropped for a performance like that, awful.

Just going to C n P what I posted on P & B...

We have nothing. No cutting edge, no creativity, no belief, no leader, no ability to score goals or ability to do, well, anything. The team is horrible and a shadow of the former ICT sides that at least made it difficult for teams to get three points against us. It's a piece of piss now.

I never went to the game but caught it on Setanta and it was same old really. Missed chances that we get punished for. Another goal conceded right after half time (something like our 7th goal lost after the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half) makes you wonder just what the hell is going on in our dressing room at the interval.

McBain did okay but I thought it was bizarre to see him pop up on the right but Brewster seems to love playing left side players on the opposite flank and vice versa. Duncan needs to learn how to pass a ball. I lost of how many chances were lost when he got on the ball and passed it out for a throw in or bye kick to Rangers.

It really is appalling stuff from ICT at the minute and it's hard to argue with the poster that said we have a doomed look about us. At least Hamilton, by all accounts, are trying and Falkirk at least have a goal scorer in Lovell. We have neither.

Vigurs and McBain did well.

I watched the match today with my shipmates, who support a variety of clubs and the majority of those guys were very very impressed by Vigurs. One even asked where we had gotten him from because he thought the name sounded continental and thought that he had shown some of the skills to match.

Err.. Proctor and Duff did switch after a minute or so.

After they lost the goal, by their own accord as well

Aye too little too late :rotflmao: :thumb04: :018: ;)

Exactly!

Check the tape. They switched before the goal. Almost as soon as he come on for the injured Tokely in fact.

I thought we played quite well in the 1st half and probably edged it. But sitting there wit my blue nosed chum I said "i guarantee you we'll concede in the 1st 2 minutes after half time"

Maybe i should have not have spoken as, taking nothing away from an excellent finish, thats exactly what we did.

I thought Black, while below his best, was one of the better players. His passing was accurate and he seemed to be the only one spreading the ball out wide and would have a dig on sight.

I was baffled at McBain on the right but he played quite well.

Vigurs had a good 1st half too. But disappeared in the 2nd.

Cowie. If he wasnt on the team sheet i wouldnt have known he was playing. Had a good chance 1 on 1 with the keeper and took it wide on to his left (wrong) foot and it was miseed. I'd like to think a confident composed Cowie would have chipped Magregor. It seemed the best option.

Duncan. Less said the better.

Hastings had a tough game up against Davies but coped better than i expected.

It was good to see Munro not lumping it at every opportunity.

Proctor wasnt bad but he just doesnt convince as a centre half.

Barrowman was given a fruitless task. He is not going to do anything without the service.

People are saying Tokely had a stinker. I'd say he was up against, 1st Novo, then Burke. He then was either knackered, injured or smacked really hard in his baby makers as he looked in pain. And went off.

Keeper was ok. Not alot could be done about the goals on his part.

What alarms me is how easy Rangers found it in the 2nd half. They were strolling for most of it. Where were the crosses and set pieces? Everyone surely knows how crap they are at dealing with them. We didnt get near them 2nd half and they took their goals at will when needed. not much else to say.
