The SunSport Golden Boot

Had a bit of a debate with CaleyD, BigTfan etc on bus last night about the Golden Boot competition and which goals are eligible. It looks like goals from all domestic comps are included (Sun reported today that Boyd on 24 and Rory 23 going head to head for title...Boyd has 19 league goals and Rory 17) so the chances are down to three players. Boyd on 24, Rory on 23 and our own Adam on 22.

The competition will be won by the player first to reach 25. Boyd never came on tonight so his next chance will not come till next wednesday which means its possible that Rory (needing 2 on saturday and / or next wed) or Adam (needing 3 on saturday) could win it.

Adam Rooney..........3 early goals on sat and this ones yours. Go for it boy.

The race to 25 is really hotting up now.

Boyd 24, Rooney 24, McAllister 23.

Here's hoping Boyd and Rangers can't score at Tannadice on wed. Brechin are away to Stirling that night as well so if Rory's fit he could also have a chance. My money's on Rooney getting it against Dunfermline though.

I wonder if Rooney himself knows this.

Sorry but do any of the players actually care about The Sun golden boot?? It's only a newspaper competiton!

Surely whats more important is winning the actual golden boot come the end of the season which is the player with the most goals, not just to 25! That's the real award, not something from the sun.

Think Adam would be very proud of himself if he does win the Sun award, as well as the seasons top scorer. Im sure the boys are aware as surely one of the squad will read the paper. We had best watch out as three Irish boys up front creating and scoring goals, as an Irish SPL club might take notice, especially when they will be getting rid of most of their team now

what a let down - Adam Rooney is much more deserving. First division is much harder. Sill fair play to Rory - he has found his level at the moment. If he toughens up he could go places.
