Getting lost in the maths

right we are a game up on dundee so im guessing the 6 points we need is assuming that the 6 points is enough if dundee win everything remaining ?

that means if we beat the pars we need three points yes

but if dundee lose to either morton on saturday or Raith on wednesday we could actually have the title won by the time we go to Ayr ?

If County drop two points tonight (at Morton) and Dundee drop two points on Saturday, a win against the Pars virtually clinches it, thanks to our GD.

county due to drop 2 as it is but surely if dundee drop 3 and lose then the title is safe?

Absolutely.... The celebrations could start straight after the Pars game.

Count can still beat us if they win the remainder of their games and we lose to Ayr and Dundee even if we win on Saturday as we'd both have 67 points at end of the season.

A draw for Dundee on Saturday would also give them a maximum 67 points.

Goal difference is like an extra point but we'll not need it.

I Believe.

We have P33 - 64 pts. Possible maximum is 73pts

Dundee have P32 - 57 pts. Possible maximum is 69pts

County have P29 - 48pts. Possible maximum is 69pts.

All other tems cannot beat our current total.

The simple math is that if we win 2 of our remaining 3 fixtures, neither County nor Dundee can catch us.

If County or Dundee draw a match, the best they can get is 67 points and based on our goal difference they would have to have a victory of 18-0 or more in there to catch us on GD so we would only have to win 1 of our 3 games.

County have 6 games to play = 18 points to play for add 49 points they have = 67 points.

Dundee have 4 games to play = 12 points to play for add 57 points they have = 69 points.

We have 64 points. 3 to play.

County and Dundee are not out of it yet, mathematically which is what this thread is about.

After tonights game .....

ICT - P33 - 64 pts - +30 GD. Possible maximum is 73pts

DFC - P32 - 57pts - +14 GD. Possible maximum is 69pts

RC. - P30 - 49pts. +5 GD. Possible maximum is 67pts.

We need 3pts to beat County to the title - unless they increase their goal difference by +26. Another County draw would mean we need only 1 point and a County defeat puts them out of the race.

We need 5 points to beat Dundee to the title - unless they increase their goal difference by +17. A Dundee draw or loss would leave us needing just 1 win in 3 games assuming they winn all the rest.

Morton - I believe! First half of their double complete, we might do this on saturday in all but name and then finalise it with a beach party at Ayr. We can then spend all of mayday laughing at Dundee. Mon ICT.

I know this is fun but if we just concentrate on ourselves and aim for our 3 wins then it will happen. On saying that good result for us but would be even better if they take something off Dundee. However all those behind us will be willing us to drop points too.
