Let's Get The Numbers Up!

Yesterday's defeat and the magnitude and manner of it will do little to encourage the casual supporter or non football fan swithering about whether to go or not.

Who gives a toss about casual supporters and non football fans - Who gives a feck about the score and the performance yesterday. This is the most defining moment yet in our feckin history and summat I am not going to miss - irrespective of whether there are 3,000 or 10,000 sitting around me. I would rather watch and sing with the people who I know are dedicated to the cause.

It won't do near as much harm as the inane pessimism emanating from a few of our own fans.  If you want to do your part to promote the club and the final then try a bit of positivity....if you're really lucky, it might even help you crack a smile.

Unfortunately my old school (Millburn Academy) is unable to find 4 teachers that are able to escort 40 kids to the final so have had to decline my offer. If anyone out there has contacts at another school that can organise this then I'm still offering to pay for 40 under 16s and 4 adults (train and match tickets). Let me know asap while there are still train tickets left.

I'd also suggest it being a good idea to contact Youth Groups (Scouts, Football teams etc) if there isn't interest from schools.

Aberdeen City Council are offering tickets out to youth groups and schools, but I would anticipate little interest due to lack of transport and many staff preferring to spend the cup final with friends rather than deal with the stress of looking after someone else's kids!

Aberdeen City Council has today announced that applications are being sought from young people's groups and organisations in the city for funding to cover the cost of tickets to see the Dons in the Scottish League Cup Final on 16th March 2014.

The conditions of the funding are as follows:

  • applications will be accepted from constituted groups and organisations only;
  • the funding must be for the benefit of the local community and can only be used for Aberdeen City Council boundary residents;
  • constituted groups and organisations will be responsible for ensuring that they comply with all regulations and legislation such as health and safety, insurance and child protection;
  • Aberdeen City Council (ACC) will cover the cost of match tickets to enable children and young people to attend the Scottish Cup Final on Sunday 16 March 2014. ACC will also cover the cost of adults required as per adult-to- child ratios;
  • Application forms will be available from www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/sportsgrants and  must be submitted to sport@aberdeencity.gov.uk by Monday 10 March 2014;
  • Applicants will be issued tickets direct from Aberdeen City Council

I would appreciate your assistance in promoting this opportunity and application process throughout your local networks.

Pretty sure I'd be able to round up some teachers and kids in Moray too! So if there are any other such generous offers out there, please shout....

I was actually hoping that buses may have been arranged for the North, Moray, Grantown/Aviemore, and West of Loch Ness via Fort William.

So If you have any bus contacts  in that area it would be great to share the info.

It would be good to get people from those areas talking to each other, things may even get organised on the back of it for local matches.

By the way the above post isnt a dig as some people have done a great job organising so much in such a short space of time but helping the ICT catchment areas would have been the icing on the cake.

I bet the Aberdeen Red and Blues could have filled a bus easy if there were any available.

According to today's P&J, the Dons have sold out their original allocation of 30,000 tickets an are looking for more and there's don't even go on general sale until Monday.  Going to be a good atmosphere at Parkhead.

Seems the people of Aberdeen have really gotten behind their team and caught cup fever. Good on them. Downside is that it appears to be making a number of Dons supporters into complete crowdwa***rs.

Yeah Aberdeen have been mobbed for tickets but a lot on P&B are now worried they wont get a ticket as there is not a lot more room to get more tickets and the have warned that Monday's general sale may be cancelled. They are urging all fans who have no booking history who want a ticket to buy a ticket for the Dumbarton to be eligible to get a ticket. I agree that this situation has turned some Dons fans into complete bellends as they are complaining about us complaining about our initial split allocation as the top tier of the LL stand may not get used if we cant sell more tickets. One poster thought it would be better to do it like the Old firm segregation where Rangers get a healthy allocation and share half of the LL stand with Celtic. I don't know how many we have shifted so far but it would be nice if we could open the top tier and fill a few sections if it was possible.

Just letting you all know that a couple of schools have accepted my offer of tickets and between them are sending 40 kids and 5 teachers to swell the ranks. Thanks to old caley girl for helping sort this out.

That's fantastic to hear, it's excellent that you're doing this and good on OCG for sorting that too!  :clapping:  :clapping:  :clapping:
