United, who are without suspended midfielder Mark Kerr, have worries over the fitness of youngsters David Robertson, Morgaro Gomis and Greg Cameron.

With captain Barry Robson walking a four-game suspension tightrope, manager Craig Levein had hoped to keep him in cold storage, but his hand may be forced.

He said: "Mark Kerr is definitely out because of his suspension and it is a case of wait and see with the rest.

"David Robertson hurt his ribs and played through the pain barrier against Dunfermline but he's not trained this week.

"Morgaro is in the same situation with his groin injury but, to be honest, this kind of thing is normal at this stage of the season because people do pick up knocks.

"Greg has a hernia and he might need an operation on it, although that's just a possibility at this stage because we'll monitor him and see how it does first.

"That means I'll have a decision to make over Barry, although if even one of them doesn't make it he'll have to play because we'll need him to."
