Clach beat Forres Mechanics last year in the Inverness Cup I hope Caley enter there reserves in the Inverness Cup this season as the likes of Rory and the other boys need to play against senior teams instead of the usual reserves teams which are sometimes just an older youth team. Also just to say Caley don't play in the League Cup anymore as they are not part of the SFL.

SPL teams normally enter the League cup a couple of rounds in do they not, unless they have changed the format.

Are you thinking of the Challenge cup :029:

My mate Wikipedia said

The competition is open only to the 42 senior clubs who compete in the Scottish Premier League or Scottish Football League.

There are no replays in this competition, so all matches ending in a draw after 90 minutes are decided by extra time and, if necessary, penalty kicks.

The four teams who, based on results of the previous season, have qualified for UEFA competitions are given a bye until the 3rd Round of competition while the ten teams who finished highest in the SPL/SFL without qualifying for Europe receive a bye into the 2nd Round.

The remaining 28 teams begin play from the 1st Round. They are drawn into random pairings with the games played at the stadium of the first team drawn. The 14 teams advancing from the first round are joined by the 10 teams who received byes into the 2nd Round. Of the 24 teams competing in the 2nd Round, the 12 teams who finished highest in the league during the previous season are seeded against the second group of 12. The teams who advance from the 2nd Round are joined by the final four teams in the 3rd Round, again, with seeding in place.

The remaining rounds of competition are unseeded.

nope - our fixture list is bang up to date .... I actually adjusted it this morning. added the last of pre-season friendly reports to the stats program and noticed 1st round of League Cup showing as TBA so checked the SFA website and realised we dont have a game in 1st round so deleted it from the ICT fixture list  :004:

To clarify any ambiguity about cups.

Scottish Football Assocation Cup-----otherwise known as the Scottish Cup-----open to all teams registered with the SFA-------Junior league teams qualify by playoff or league position-------SPL teams enter the competition in the third round.

Scottish League Cup-----otherwise known as the CIS Cup-------Open to all 42 teams in the SPL / SFL-----format as tm4tj says.

Scottish Football League Cup-----otherwise known as the Challenge Cup-------Open to teams from the three SFL leagues only.

By the end of this season ICT are going to be displaying two of the above trophies :003:

How not I know a lot of the other team who compete in these competitions do and we used to before how has this changed?

Since Caley Thistle were formed Ian Broadfoot has kept a huge set of stats that do include a lot of these games. However, when recording or trotting out things like appearances, goals etc they have never been included in them because the fixtures are not classed as competitive fixtures.

We are working on our stats program now that Ian has retired and we will include lineups and goals etc in there for these games where we can but we will do it in such a way that it does not skew the 'proper' stats

If Highland League teams want to class them as competitive fixtures then that is up to them, but teams in the senior leagues dont tend to include these kinds of fixtures ....

The Scottish leagues (and upwards to UEFA and FIFA for things like the Golden Boot) also do not count appearances and goals from competitions like this in their stats - could you imagine .... Marius Niculae scores 5 goals in each round of the North or Inverness Cup (or both) and is suddenly classed as top scorer in the SPL ? and goes on to win the Golden Boot, a nice thought but it doesnt really make sense does it !

So, what's the score tonight at Clach Park, please?

Any news?  Who was in the team?

Also, why was Jamie Duff not in the team photo in today's P & J - if Ally MacDonald, Guy Kerr, Garry Wood included, why not Jamie?

Finished 4 -1 ICT

Heres the lineup:

                                  Ridgers

??????          Duff                  Kerr                  A.McDonald

Zander          Gillespie            Morgan            Morrison(?)

                        Wood            Leslie

No idea of the subs

Garry Wood scored 2, the 2nd a lob Ian Stewart would've been proud of :021:. Alan Morgan scored a free kick and a sub (no.16?) lofted into an empty net at the death. Clach's goal was IMHO the pick of the bunch. Blair Laurie curled the ball into the top left postage stamp.Ridgers got a hand to it but couldn't stop it.

It was Ian Penwright who scored Caley Thistles last goal it was a shame how the Clach team seemed to always have three men round Zander when he got the ball which shows how high they rate him. Also Clach scored a very nice free kick from Blair Lawrie just after Morgans free kick. Next is Fort William in the North Cup.

Nice photos from Gordon Gillespie - well done!  Wish I had been able to go.

Is next game against Fort William home or away, and when?
