signing for next season

I see Phil McGuire has been released by Arbroath. Unquestionably the greatest defender I've ever seen in an ICT shirt - even better than big Bobby! His speed, his passion, his skill, he's just what's needed at ICT. Sign him up!

Renee has some eccentric views but I'm fairly sure this one is sarcastic.

Am I right in saying McGuire helped get Arbroath relegated this season, helped get ICT relegated last year and before that helped get Dunfermline relegated? He's just the man for a relegation fight!

Jeez. I had forgotten all about him. *shudder*

How about Lee Carsley,

Read what he says in the Herald yesterday. I'm sure SPL would be a far better bet for him than champs or div 1 or 2 in England. He would probably agree himself.

Think we are missing a big strong centre forward who can hold up ball as that is currently one of Rooney's failings - maybe working on it though in close season.

I know Foran is great at this, but again not an out and out striker, problem then becomes who do you leave out from midfield

Pavels too would be great - he left but not because he wanted too!

Left back cover reuired too, and hopefully Esson signs on

Would like Caley (they appear to be doing it) to sign up players for longer than 1 year deal as this tends to give way to speculation in January about them moving on and its unsettling, at least this way we would get some money for them

Anyone know of Tokely as decided to stay now we are back in premier league as I think he was offski if we lost out on promotion

Football manager hat on...

There's not much to mess about with in a winning team but the positions I hope Tel is considering are

Esson

???? Tokely Munro ?????

Duncan Cox

Hayes ???? Foran

Rooney

We have 17 players if the ones offered contracts sign so as I imagine we'll make 5 ... maybe 6 signings in the close season. The priorities should be left back and attacking mid but a more natural right back than Proctor would be excellent but not essential

LB, some people might not be keen but I'd pay any money we have for Bob Harris.

AMC, Moutinho is the best candidate I've heard mentioned on this forum but I think Tel might be able to find a gem down south... either on loan or a free transfer

Right back, someone more concerned with defending than joinging the attack so they can let Hayes do his thing and pull into the centre if Harris is flying up the other wing.... not seen much of Gary Irvine but if he's available he might be worth a look.

CB, as cover and competition... there can be only one ... PAVELS

GK, we need a back up keeper now Allison's been released.. don't believe Tuffey would sign as back up and probably provide too much competition for Esson + do we really want to be spending the majority of our budget on a GK??

Forward as back up & competiton for Rooney.... I can think of this hotly tipped 22 year old that's been banging in the goals for a p!shy club in the second division... heard he's got ties with the club as well and the fans would love him!!!!

Now that would be a complete and competitive ICT squad capable of achieving top 6

Chibber has pritty much summed up my thoughts for summer transfers.

Only thing i would also like is a right midfielder, i know Tel likes to use Johnny on the left wing sometimes and i doubt we could stick with the 4-2-3-1 for every game.

I agree Harris may be a good signing but only thing i'am concerned about is his lack of defensive qualities. Having watched him against Johnny a couple of times this season...well...enough said.

Eh? He stifled Hayes in the game up here where QotS easily defeated us. I forgot Hayes was playing that day. I think the biggest obstacle is that he is under contract and could command a sizeable fee. Can we afford to pay that much for transfers?

He was given a bit of a hard time in Palmerston though but generally our goals came from a corner and down the middle in that match....

my thoughts are... we don't have a set piece specialist in the team... we need a left back ... Harris fits the bill perfectly

And money wise how does he fit that bill? I think he would be a great signing but I think a lot of our deals will be loans and free transfers. Can't see how we'll stump up the money QotS are looking for to get Harris sadly.

I don't think any team in the first division could expect more than 100k for a left back... dunno Harris contract status but if only 1 year left then you could half that value..

I don't think it would be unreasonable for Tel to expect ?150k for a transfer kitty moving into the SPL.

How much do you think OoS would be holding out for?

Bob Harris supposedly on the radar for both Dundee and St Johnstone but agree with Chibber that he might be a good acquisition. Pavels would also be welcome IMHO. The others I am happy to 'trust in Tel' ... whether he finds some gems down south or picks up a few from SPL/SFL1 ........

PS ... no thanks to the striker from the p!shy team  .... he can join Barrowman at County as both have shown they can score in D2 !!!

For a powerful experienced striker Wayne Curtis has just been released from Morecambe.

I've seem him play for them plenty of times, good goalscoring record and capable of scoring some cracking goals.

I reckon he could cut it in the spl.......

A goal every 4 games or so for Morecambe !!!! I hope we're aiming higher than that .

Ken but sure he was knocking them in more recently, maybe not so prolific when he first joined.

Plus with better players around him more goals would prob come.

Mind you i didn't see them play last season and there's gonna be a reason why he was released so MAYBE YOU'RE RIGHT YA BAS!

Just an idea tho!!!

Hello B)

I can only go on what the QotS fans on P & B say and that is the figure that is being banded about. At this stage they are under no pressure to sell. I'll give Kenny Brannigan a text tomorrow and see what he is saying though.
