ICT -V- Rangers : matchday thread

That was the footballing equivalent of a kick in the nuts!

It's so bloody frustrating to lose yet another game in the last minute especially when at the very worst you deserved a draw  :029:

The game was no classic but in no way, shape or form were Rangers the better team on the day and that makes it even more annoying.

Perhaps those who saw the 'goals' on TV can enlighten me as to whether they on or offside? I thought the Adams disallowed one was OK and the given one looked questionable.

Why McBain started on the right escapes me, why he stayed on the park escapes me as well. We were impotent down both flanks in the first 45 minutes but at least the flying Finn started to show a bit more in the second half especially as he can't be anywhere near match fit yet! Bringing Barry on was the right thing to do but the invisible man should have been off.

I thought Niculae put in a very hard shift up front but at times he was left so isolated it was unreal. Cowie hustled and bustled but never really seemed to be in right place at the right time.

Another suggestion to the management team would be not to let Duncan take set pieces again. His delivery today was woefull but he did get in amongst the Rangers players.

Not sure about Tokely for MOTM?  For me Fraser made a couple of cracking saves that kept us in the match. I'm sure Rosscoe will get a hard enough time for that miss  :007:

Black was absolutely knackered by the 80th minute and should have been subbed. In fact where were Brewster's pointless last minute subs today? The one time we needed the game to be broken up when Rangers were gaining momentum and nothing happened.

Anyway I'm probably been overly critical as I'm so bloody fed up right now.

Bad luck lads  :clapping03:

I felt the whole team looked knackered in the last 15 to be honest. And that's not a common sight, as we usually keep running to the very end.

Not disappointed though. After the ***** performance last week, that was a million times better.

I think Proctor was superb today.

Niculae also had an excellent game (for 90 minutes, not 60!)

Overall we played reasonably well - although I feel we could have done better with Cowie on the right wing

as McBain looked a little lost in that position.

It was nice to see us playing with a proper left winger - Markus has quality and if he can get  decent run in the first team he'll start to show his real class.

The Charlie Adams goal should have stood - TV pictures showed Duncan was playing him onside...

The Darchville goal was ok....

Lacked cutting edge going forward, thought Proctor may have done a bit more to get the ball/put off Darchville for his goal, might have helped his cause if he kept his arm down and played to the whistle, not a lot of difference between the teams on the day but in all fairness the finish was class. Adams goal should have stood.

Here's my player by player ratings:

1. Fraser - 8/10 - Had a number of great saves today.

2. Tokely - 6.5/10 - Better than usual but was still nowhere near good enough to be MOTM and missed that great chance at the end.

6. McBain - 6/10 - Nothing special at all and was pretty poor for most of the game.

8. Black - 7/10 - Played fairly well today.

12. Duncan - 6/10 - Didn't do much at all.

14. Munro - 6.5/10 - Not bad but not that great either.

15. Cowie - 6.5/10 - Not so good today.

16. Hastings - 8/10 - Great today and a possible contender for MOTM.

18. Niculae - 7/10 - Not bad and had one good shot that was well saved by McGregor.

20. Paatelainen - 5.5/10 - Oh dear.  Not that good at all today.

29. Proctor - 7/10 - Not bad today and looked fairly solid.

Subs: Wilson for Paatelainen

7. Wilson - 7.5/10 - Played fairly well when he came on.

Overall I felt that it was a pretty boring game with neither team being that great though a draw would've been a fairer result.  And why oh why didn't Brewster not put Wyness on for McBain towards the end?  He might have given ICT a more attacking edge towards the end of the game.

Normally agree with your ratings tcf, but for my money you're light years out on young Markus - thought he played bloody well, especially for one who's only recently back from injury.

I understand that it emerged later that Cousin ran across Mike Fraser, impeding him, so it was a foul rather than the offside which everybody initially thought it was.

having seen the highlights id agree with mr bannerman  looked like darcville or cousins got a touch  last ten we rode our luck a bit but tokley could and shouldve made it 1-1 but overall we made a game of it well done to all

Ach we lost, no disgrace in that.  I thought we were fairly mince for most of the game and best we deserved was a draw, still tough to take at the death.  Rossco looked up, tried to place it and mishit it badly...........nuff said.  We did not create enough good opportunities, couple of half chances............game over.

Enough has been said about it already, as some people had the benefit of tv views.  We did not show the desire we showed against Celtic.  Black was tremendous.  Proctor is better than McGuire.  Hastings and Roy left their respective opponents too much space.  Marius did too little.  Marcus never got a chance.  Cowie beavered away, but that is not enough sometimes.  Mike Fraser was solid, another good display from him.  Grantie coped well with Cousin, but Darcheville was a handful for the defenders and Novo's pace caused more problems, something we lack up front.  Duncan was frustrating, doing the hard bit then passing the ball aimlessly.  This game was crying out for Bazza to replace Roy, alas they took off the wrong man.

As far as I'm concerned, we really missed Graham Bayne today. There were a lot of high balls flying about today and Bayne, in a standard 4-4-2 would have been my preferred option.

Why Brewster came up with the idea of Roy McBain in right mid is very strange.

Having said that thought the team played generally well and I remain confident that Brewster will take ICT into the top six this season

Eh....keep smelling the air me man.... you might get some gas

To be robbed of a point by a **** rangers team is so feckin annoying...    anyway, Tokeley MOM is a joke.....what a *** he was in the last min putting that attempt over the bar...and almost over the stand.

Duncan...ha ha ha....  must have lost his magic boots somewhere..  passing was beyond him today. he had an opportunity to score and never made mcgregor sweat.

well pissed off....

No disrespect Roy... but wide right?  poor starting 11 Brew...very poor.    what were you thinking off? -  shyte shyte.

Just home after a pretty horrendous journey both directions. So many nutters on the roads nowadays. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see anyone but Aileen was nights last night and tonight so it was up and down with no time to socialise.

Rangers first goal would have stood had Cousin not tried to toe-poke it in. He was offside but had he moved out instead of seeking the glory the goal would have stood. Was a pity really because I think we would have fought that little bit harder to get the equaliser.

My personal view is that we played really well and were unlucky to concede at the death. The one fault I seen was that we didn't capitalise down the left. Patti was getting into some good positions and screaming for service but it didnt come. We really need to utilise the width more, make the opponent come to us and break up there defence before crossing in. Too many times we crossed inside from the halfway line when we had no chance of breaking through.

We still need to work on our passing, especially Duncan and McBain but all in all I came back down the road happy to have seen a good game. I think everything went right as far as team selaction and substitution went. Though I wonder whether bringing on Bayne or Wyness at thge same time as Barry would have produced that little bit more. Changing to 4-4-2 for thew last 20 mins could have been the answer.

MoM for me would have to be Blackie. He ran his socks of, won his fair share of tackles and done his absolute utmost to try and create something.

A lapse of at the end allowed for their goal but no matter. We showed we can mix it with the best.

Unlucky to concede at the end, I don't think so! We continually loose games in the last 5 minutes, Celtic, Aberdeen twice and today not to mention others that we have probably lost. It's high time Brew realised this and worked on the players to hold a lead or a good position over the last stages of a game.

Black MOM in my opinion.

Niculae also had an excellent game (for 90 minutes, not 60!)

He did aye, but admitting he ran his arse off for the full 90 would be too much for someone who's seemingly obsessed with Niculaes every move!

Yeah agree with davieB.  Starting to feel quite embarrased for a certain poster who is "hysterical" in going on about Marius good or bad!!

Here are my comments on this thread:

Niculae is doing OK at the moment - Niculae "disappeared" in the second half but produced a sweet left foot strike in the 68th but it didnt really trouble McGregor - He got in the way of a Niculae header in the 86th and he went fer goal in injury time when Niculae had cleverly tailed off to the back post and a pass would have meant a clear goal - Fraid Niculae is a 60 minute man BUT he still showed class with his movement to the back post in injury time - I have to admit that he was miles in front of his team mates from that perspective - Marius deserved the 1000th fer a moment of class.

The problem is that you lot are obsessed with defending and protecting him - if you read my posts today you may find that I am more critical of many others - if you were honest and not tunnel visioned I am sure that you would agree that Marius faded in the last quarter - the man is not above criticism.

Didn't think we were that bad today.

Fraser was awesome, nuff said.

Rossce is getting slandered, yes it was an awful miss, but I thought he had a good game today.

Yet again we saw how technically superior Niculae is. Pitty hes such a slow fecker.

Proctor was awesome, nuff said.

Record attendance, not bad.

Finally we got to see Barry, and he made an immediate impact. Its not just good to have him back from a novelty point of view, he's a terrific player.

Black was awesome, nuff said.

Concerned about Cowie, his hearts not there.

McBain wide right :029:

Hastings was awesome. nuff said.
