Michael Barnes?

I'm aware that he was up here on trial at some point in the last 8 months whilst still contracted to Man U. Now that he's been given a free by Man U (last week) does that mean we may be interested in him again, as a fee won't be involved. Eh.....or was he just deemed unsuitable?

Michael Barnes is a pacy winger from Chorley, in the North-west of England.

Barnes signed scholarship forms in December 2005 and has since graduated through the youth ranks at the club and has now progressed to Reserve team football.

The lightning-fast winger is an integral part of the Reds' second string, and was given his big break by Sir Alex Ferguson as a second half substitute in the first team's Carling Cup win at Crewe in October 2006.

Comfortable with either foot, Michael is one of the Reserves' most dangerous attacking weapons, and scored his first competitive goal for Brian McClair's side against Wigan Athletic, just six days before his first-team outing.

An integral part of the Reserves set up, Michael will hope to bewitch opposing defences with United for years to come.

He was on loan at Shrewsbury for the last few games of the season and Malky Thomson claimed to be at a Shrewsbury game during in the Chester tapping up inquiry. Could well be going in for him if he's up for free.

worth it if Brewster can get him imo. Much as I hate Utd their youngsters are usually well coached. Might have to dye his hair though, ginger would clash with the red bits in the Caley kit - he'd look like a trafic light

Then joined Northwich Victoria but was released after just one game due to not being willing to sign a permenant contract

He signed for Conference North side Southport, but was released after just one appearance

He later joined F.C. Halifax Town, and made his debut for the club against Radcliffe Borough on 10 January 2009 but has not played since

Went from Man Utd to Chesterfield and Shrewsbury on loan during 2008, then to Northwich Victoria and Southport before ending up at Halifax Town. Scored for Halifax Town in the Unibond at the weekend in front of a crowd of 969
