Conceding late in the game

I was reading an article on the STV website and it got me thinking, we have let in a lot of late goals this season....why are we prone to this? Is it lack of fitness? Players switching off? Thinking the game is won and sitting back? Tactics?

Can anyone offer possible reasons?

Some interesting/worrying stats:

Most worrying is Inverness’ habit of leaking late on, with ten points dropped in the final quarter of an hour. It is entirely hypothetical, but had they kept those ten points then they would be in joint 5th position and challenging for Europe.
:furtive:

Here we can see just why Dunfermline and Inverness appear to have struggled this season. A quarter of all the goals they have conceded are in the final 15 minutes, with a significantly higher number than any of their rivals. Again we see a strong showing from Dundee United and in particular from Hearts, who have conceded just one goal in the closing stages this season.

Not only are Hearts and Dundee United top of the scoring and defensive displays, they have also won more points than the other sides during the final moments. Hearts have won five extra points in the last 15 minutes thanks to their late winners against Hibs and Inverness and a last gasp equaliser in the Highlands.
