Yes the referee was absolutely shocking but the reason we lost today is down to the same problem we've had all season......we can't score goals !

Exactly - lots of effort, pressure and posession but no strikers. Hopefully we will have enough about us to stay up this season, but an experienced striker is a priority for the summer.

To be fair, we did have 10 men and only one striker (who isn't really a striker) up there. I hear the Falkirk goalkeeper had to be outstanding though which puts us in good stead for the remainder of the season. Cup would be nice but Falkirk having to play in the cup, then crunch ties against the top teams before the break, then their relegation counterparts after? Doesn't sound too great to me.

Personally I am more cheesed off by the Lionel support on here - The guy has cost us dear - Yes it was a human error - but an error that was just waiting to happen. He looks like a sound guy - with passion and committment and desire but he is a liability at the back - full feckin stop. If he ever plays again it should be from the bench and in the middle of the park.

Note all the feckin avatars and signatures have gone. :rotflmao:

He gives his all and has more postive attributes than negative, as long as he is eager to learn he could become an excellent player for us. It was a ludicrous challenge today though and will probably give Tel a decision to play him for the next game or not

I can't remember them having a shot on goal after we had a man sent off.. gutted because I live beside hampden so would have been an easy journey but it was obviously going to happen IMO

Was that a restrained reply or do you agree with me Hairy ? I agree with you except he is NOT a full back - he is NOT a defender - he is not a SPL player. That Tel decision - if he dares to make it - could cost us dear - perhaps as usual I am the one opening ma gob but many agree with me. I really think that we ould have gone even further than one visit to Hampden - and I was so looking forward to staying wiv ya.

What a load of tosh. Our back of Tokely Pavel Munro Lionel is as solid as any we've ever had in the SPL. Only a zealot would call for Lionel never to start a game for the club ever again after he gives away 1 penalty.

You blatantly hated to see him succeed and now take delight in seeing him slip up. Real ICT fans are delighted with how the big man has performed for the team since he was given a chance.

You're right about alot of things but the way you constantly write off Lionel no matter how well he's actually performing is pretty poor form on your part. He doesn't deserve it at all.

We played well, we gave away a penalty, they scored.

The poor old ref lost his glasses.

Imrie can't make passes.

What a great game to watch, what a great effort by the team, what's a striker?

The Penalty was a penalty...had it been a goalscoring opportunity. he was about a yard from the bye line when he went down.

A blind man would have made better calls than conroy. he was an utter joke. id rather have John Underhill as a ref for us rather than him.

No idea what a striker is. its been a few good years since we had one!

Very exciting game today, unfortunately for most of the wrong reasons - trying to come back from behind.

Lionel was a silly boy, and deserved what he got. He will be back because he has been MOM in three of the last 4 games, and is just what we need. He started getting wound up and got caught out of position a few times, around the time that he got nobbled. Needs to learn to screw the nut.

wtf did Russel think he was doing? He saw the guy coming at him and thought oh yes, I'll have that. He was going to do his dying swan, no matter what happened. Utterly stupid collapse for the barest contact. Yellow for simulation.

I am getting a bit fed p of Imrie now, lack of control, poor shooting. I knew he was going to sky that shot as soon as he saw it, before he did. I fear that Ody gives nothing, though very impressed with Foran, gives a lot.

Other than that, FK very poor. If we cant get more points than them this season we deserve relegated.

Very entertaining game today - real edge-of-the-seat stuff.

Lionel's sending off was a bit harsh though, although the penalty was fair.

Disapproved of Russell Duncan's efforts to get a fellow professional sent off. I think we can do without this sort of blatant cheating, although some might say it's all part of the game.

Hell, if we can have entertainment like that at TCS every other week the punters should come swarming back! I've witnessed a few home defeats this season, but if they'd all been as entertaining as today's, I wouldn't have minded.

I'd have put Foran ahead of Black for MoM though. In fact Lionel was looking good for it until he walked.

You are probably the biggest ******** on this site - Read my comments about Lionel at Ibrox - We have a great back three who cover for Lionel. Read my posts - I have read yours and you have got it all wrong - I have got it all right - I never wrote Lionel off - HE IS NOT A FULL BACK - HE IS NOT A DEFENDER - HE IS A LIABILITY AT THE BACK. I was "entertained" by him at Ibrox - but being a nice guy and having heart is NOT going to keep us up.

As I said before - if we were safe - he would be bearable entertainment - put him back in and he could really cost us - more than he has already - get off yer high horse and admit it ya tatw.

You like to dish it out but for one so brash you seem a little over-sensitive to any criticism that comes back at you in IMHO.

Sorry but I am merely stating the obvious. As fer ma quotes - I never wrote him off - I have said a lot of complimentary things about him - His problem is playing him in a position where he can do damage.

Lionel has never played in the SPL bar the past few weeks, he has contributed to our revival. Yes he is always liable for a mistake, but so is Munro and Tokely. I'm not saying he's some Roberto Carlos type figure but he's done as well if not better than hastings! Give the guy a break or is yet another Marius-esqe hate campaign on the go again.

If your such a tactical genius why didn't you put your name forward for the job as you seem to think you know everything!!

On the whole, a cup defeat doesn't really bother me. This season it's the league that matters. In fact I would happily never go further than the opening round of the cup if it meant that SPL status was guaranteed for next season.

Would all those who criticised the ref like to publicly apologise now. Russell Duncan will never win an Oscar. As it happened I thought from the North Stand that he went down far too theatrically..........apparently TV shows this to be the case. Lionel rightly sent off, a la David Weir, no complaints there either. Some of the 50/50 challenges were flagged up by the ref too easily, both sides having their share of mystery decisions against them. However, lets not fall into the old firm stereo type and blame the ref every time we lose.

Down to ten men I was still confident we could pull this off or a replay at the least. However, it was not to be despite some frantic scrambles in the Falkirk box the ball just never fell kindly enough for us, combined with Mallo's reflex saves we missed out on a great opportunity to progress. Imrie undid a lot of his good work by choosing the wrong option at the end, shooting wildly over when a pass may have been more productive, he saw the headlines before he shot methinks. One great run evading five scything tackles before being crowded out, but not enough composure with the final ball too often meant it was to no avail.

Great save in the first half by Mallo when Tokely lofted a header towards a seemingly empty net only for the keeper to make up a lot of ground and claw the ball to safety. Tokely McMagics and Foran get pass marks. Grantie gets a minus for constant hoofing, Duncan for cheating, Imrie for not passing, Black for stopping the ball with his face, Lionel for the rugby tackle, he should have left it to Esson, Kerr for not being fit, Esson for having nothing to do, Rooney for not being good enough, and the ref just for sheer inconsistency.

Ah well, out of the cup, but not out of the league yet.

Johndo stop stirring it up regarding Lionel, the sites busy enough without the inane ramblings.

MoM probably the Falkirk keeper, he was certainly kept on his toes and ultimately kept Falkirk in the cup.

Thought yesterdays game was very entertaining as well as very frustrating.

Lionel. Silly boy. Hey we all make mistakes. Can't believe some people are bashing him. It was only in the 3rd round against Partick that the HT substitution was roundly cheered. Under Butcher however he's been the most improved player under the new regime by a mile.

The ref wasn't great but he wasn't as bad as McCurry FFS!

As for Falkirk and the future. The fact that they were so keen to time waste as early as the first half spoke volumes. Even against 10 men they were so devoid of confidence. I was very unimpressed by Falkirk and I would go as far to say I'm not now worried about relegation at all.

Before the match I called it more than a cup tie implying the winner would have a psychological edge over the other. Not the case. Even though they won I can't see them thinking they truly got the better of us. Even with a man advantage they struggled. If we had 11 men we would have thumped them.

Shame to be out of the cup but onward we go.

This was my point a page back. How people can sit and slag someone off for giving a penalty away when that is what got them off the bottom of the league. Yes I understand how annoying it is etc etc, but whats happened has happened.

It was a penalty we could see it clearly from the North stand and as the rules stand he had to go! Russell Duncan silly boy - all I saw was him dropping to the ground like he had been hit by Mike Tyson. However, the tv showed it a bit differently - no contact with his face at all. The ref, despite all this, was really poor and gave us nothing as far as I could see so no apology neccessary. The main reason we lost was not the ref but the old story of not being able to get the ball into the net.

the refs have a big part to play in every game. the ref yesterday was shocking if a caley player went down he looked the other way and the ref when we played motherwell was fecking worse :rotflmao:
