Transfer Deadline

With the Transfer deadline in 6 days time, do fans think we could do with some reinforcements?

IMO, we are now short in Central defence with only Proctor, Munro and Innes available for that position so i would look at loaning a Centre half until January.

I would also like us to think about stengthening the striker position with maybe a look at Jamie Mackie from Plymouth or Paddy Madden from Bohemians.

Other than that we should have a capable SPL squad who could go places this season.

Thoughts?

I'd like to see another striker added to the squad also. No disrespect to Shane Sutherland who I do think one day will be a quality player but I believe it would be naive to think that a youngster who, lets be honest, didn't really light up the Third Division (in fairness at a sh1te team) can provide adequate back up as our second out and out striker. Okay we have Richie, Eric, Dani Sanchez and perhaps Blumenshtein who can all fill in there but I'm not sure I'd class any of them as out and out strikers.

Can't say I know anything about the two players you've mentioned but the font of knowledge that is wikipedia tells me that Mackie signed for QPR pre-season and has scored twice in three games for them so I doubt he'd be coming north.

I think the squad is about as strong as it has ever been in terms of decent cover for positions, but I agree we could do with another centre half. Tokely can also cover there in addition to the three players you mentioned, but iirc, McCann's only on loan until January and either Tokely or Proctor will probably be required to play right back.

I'm not expecting any more transfer activity.

Securing important guys like Foran, Hayes and Ryan and bringing in Tuffey (still think it's a big back up keeper!), Gillett, Innes, McCann and Blumer keeps this poster happy and will probably have taken care of the wage bill for the season.

But if TB and the board pull out a surprise fine.

I doubt we will have anyone else arriving this window.

I would say a couple of midfielders one winger, one centre midfielder but not that bothered if we don't get anyone.

I read in today's Highland News that Butcher "may buy a player before Tuesday's deadline but wouldn't be to disappointed if he didn't", that was not the actual quote but my words of what was said in the article.

According to todays courier we are in talks with 1 or 2 players over potential loan moves due to Gil and Foran being out.

heres a link to the story, the main jist of the story is that Butcher is keen to tie down Rooney to a new contract which is great news

The end of August is fast approaching and Butcher has hinted that he may bring in another loan signing to increase his options in the final third of the pitch before the transfer window closes.

With the attacking duo of Richie Foran and Gil Blumenshtein sidelined until after the international break, Butcher is mulling over the possibility of bolstering his squad.

"We have one or two irons in the fire that we are following up, but it's taking a bit of time," he added. "The squad is still a bit light, but we'll just need to see what happens."

glad to hear it

I think we could do with another utility player. Stuart Duff would be a good addition. He can play right-back, def mid, right-wing and attacking mid (he has played centre-back too but was bloody awful). We've got a good squad, so another specialist* isn't the answer IMHO as it's pretty doubtful we'll get top quality.

*apart from a striker, as we're struggling if Rooney is injured. I don't think we need a 'promising' player, as Sutherland looks promising enough. So I'm not sure who that could possibly be?

All depends on the wage demands but Lee Hendry - not Colin or Lenny - is in Inverness. It sounds as if he is simply desperate to get a game/club - but I would take him - left footed midfielder is waht we need.

Lee Hendrie as in ex-Aston Villa? From what I'd heard, Aberdeen were interested but wouldn't meet his wage demands. Maybe those have changed with the transfer deadline almost upon us, though. Certainly a talented player in his day, but reputedly a disruptive influence in the dressing room.

I agree that Duff would be a good signing. We didn't lose a single game during his spell in the team last season. The only area where we look a bit threadbare is central midfield. Cox is unproven at this level and struggled against both Celtic and Hamilton. If Duncan were to get injured or suspended we'd have a serious problem IMHO.

yes that will definitley happen and duff would be a good addition also foran will probably get banned at least once so i think loaning a left forward or signing gregory tade is a must

Wouldn't mind Duff back at all. With McCann injured and a lack of options in the middle he could be a useful addition.

We are in need of another wide player for sure. Noticed that Danny Cadamarteri is available from Dundee United, he really impressed me when he played against ICT last summer, perhaps we could get him on loan.
