Team for first pre season game

Recommended Posts

As I posted in another thread last night

Ain't through lack of trying.

We can still keep the majority just not the spine. Young players have to step up for us next season. Sutherland, and Ross need to follow in shinnies steps.

Right now this is our team

Esson

Meekings--gillet?--Hogg?--G.shinnie

Foran--Morrison

Doran--A.shinnie--Ross

Sutherland

Subs: mathieson, Tokely?, Piermayr?, otj?, McKay?,u19,u19

Players who we already have for next season are given priority in this.

Gillets ahead of Tokely because I think he's more likely to sign than the big man.

Same for Hogg.

Now that isn't a terrible team. Lots of creativity in midfeild, Hogg and gillet both very capable, and a lot of youth. A bit of experience aswell in Esson, gillet, Hogg and foran.

So what do we need?

We need Tokely, and piermayr to sign. And another 1 maybe 2 new defenders. meekings, gillet, and Hogg have played in both full back and centre half, perhaps we need 2 new defenders.

Midfeild, again we need otj to sign. We need a new wide player and Another centre midfielder. We also have advantage of having Ross and foran who can play out wide and cover if need.

Up front. The huge worry. Last seasons problem area. Right now we have Sutherland. Thats all.

I expect McKay to sign. But then we have 2 strikers.

We need 2 more after that at least one experienced. And as with other positions we have players who can cover I.e. foran.

So we need 2 defenders

2 midfielders

And 2 new strikers

And the obvious new cover keeper unless butcher has faith in this mathieson boy.

This is a minimum requirement list. This is what we need for the start of pre season. A 22 man squad going into pre season would be ideal. We can then add a few more players throughout pre season.

Question marks are NOT permitted on this thread young man - :rules02: We are now dealing in "reality" rather than "ifs and buts".

Pontificating and postulating is out and only contract signers can be included.

I was hoping that this would be another tonic for the better if or when we can fill in all the spaces - especially in the starting eleven - and lets face it the "core" is not looking that bad.

Oh, did I miss something.........................has the season started yet?

No, dont recall anyone saying it had.

Just having fun trying to name a team when we only have 11 players under contract at present

OK thanks, I'll give it a miss then as the OP is just a dig at the clubs lack of signed players rather than a team ready to play.

We are no different to other clubs in that respect and pre-season starts in na month does it not?

Indeed a month away however I would hazard a guess and say that we have the least first team players on the books out of any SPL club (including Ross County)

For Terry to have a full squad ready for the start of pre-season then we will have to make in the region of 14 signings. 14 good signings in a month for a team with our budget is going to be a tough task for any manager.

Terry said he wanted continuity going into next season, this will not happen as we have or will be losing so many players. I dont have a partcular issue with having so few players signed for next season at this stage but my real issue is with signing players on 1 year contracts which leave us wide open to situations like this

Pre season is 4 weeks away. Pre season. Not the start of the season. Pre season.

Some clubs are only now releasing players. Get a grip, these things take time. We have 4 weeks before they even start running around a field together let alone taking part in any meaningful match.

If ICT is all some of you have to moan (constantly in some cases) about then you are indeed very lucky people. Take a break (like the majority of footballers are doing at this time of the year) from worrying about ICT. Never fear, I'm sure they'll give you plenty to worry and complain about when the season is actually underway.

I dont really think it is unjust to harbour slight feelings of worriment about our future when we have so few players on board despite the fact our manager wanted to 'keep the squad together'.

Remember Butcher and our Chairman have clearly stated that they want a team assembled as soon as possible, hopefully for pre-season. 14 players to sign in a month is no easy feat

I dont expect us to go out and sign 14 players tomorrow but likewise i understand that we have a sizeable rebuilding project on our hands this summer.

Talk about giving a dog a bad name !!

Woof woof.

Aye there is always room for improvement. 14 players may be required, but they have had their eye on some for a while now so I would expect things to move along soon. Sooner rather than later would be ideal but the league is broke so I doubt there will be any great rush of quality players heading North.

No matter what team we produce, I will be getting behind themn anyway, so I am happy to wait and see the outcome instead of promoting mass hysteria, this goes on every season since man was made, and this season is no different, just the budget that's prohibitive.

In November we were bottom of the league staring at relegation. The usual `injuries` story & the team not getting the chance to gel, etc.

A few loan signings & return of a few injured players & we managed to piece together a run of results to get us up & safe.

I dont think the manager had a chance last year to get things moving.

Now he has got another chance to sign another `dirty dozen` or so.

Maybe in November this year we`ll be nestling nicely in the top six.

I`m looking forward more optimisticly than most to the re building of the team & to give the manager my support.
