I agree it is superb result so well done to everyone on that BUT we were feckin dreadful in the second half. It was verging on farcical how bad we were. The wind probably paid it's part in spoiling the spectacle but how we managed to survive I'll nvever know. Backs to the wall for the 49 minutes and just hoofing the ball straight back to Killie time and time again. I doubt we even played as badly with clueless Brew at the helm. Still it's the results that matter just now.

Phew, that was one of the worst games of football I've ever seen. Our second half performance was absolute mince, there was only 1 team in the game. We kept punting long aimless balls up the park and barely strung 2 passes together for long spells. There was no focus, no composure, no imagination. We were lethargic and second to almost every ball, the exact opposite of our performance against Hibs. Rooney and Imrie were completely ineffective, they kept conceding posession too easily and created nothing. I don't think they're going to form an effective partnership.

In the last half hour Butcher and Malpas obviously decided to go all out defence and cling onto our lead rather than go out to kill the game off. At the final whistle we had 8 defenders on the pitch. That must be an ICT record!

We played far better last week and got nothing. I'll take an ugly win over an entertaining defeat any week but if we play this badly again we'll almost always lose.

3 great points the day!!

MoTM has to be ryan esson - he kept us in it. Last 15 mins killie all in attack and he made great punches to clear the ball away from kevin kyle

On the thread (Strips on saturday 21st) about clubs kits.

I would just like to say killie had there 3rd strip on today and last time they were up they had on there away strip which is the all purple one. So why did they change it the day???

Would agree with Muir-Jaggie, Ryan Esson was by far the best player today, both his handling and punching were top class. Not arguing with Pavels getting it, defensively he was really solid but his distribution of the ball, along with Munro, Proctor and Tokely was absolutly terrible.

I nearly fell asleep in the second half but it was pleasing to at least see we are capable of dogged defender, something we would never have done under the previous regime.

The case of Richie Foran playing up front was also furthered today by his goal, again when crosses go into the box it's him getting into the areas to finish.

Getting 4 points clear of Falkirk after Liverpool's 4-1 triumph today made it the greatest football afternoon i've had in ages.

I wasn't at the game today, but I suspect nerves probably played a big part in the poor performances...

Sounds to me like they actually put up a better show last week against Falkirk with 10 men...

Great 3 points though.... Sets us up nicely for the big one next Saturday.. :rotflmao:

Great result. 4 points clear of falkirk and st mirren and kilmarnock dragged in to it. Sounds good to me. 1st half performance was brilliant. 2 good goals. The second half was absolutely terrible caley were rubbish the ball was never out of our half. Im struggling to remeber us stringing more than 5 passes together in the second half. But we defended well apart from the long balls forward which just brought on another attack. The whole team worked hard and played reasnoably well. The ref wasnt to bad. I cant belive i just said that. More results like this will do me.

That'll do for me. Well done Terry and the players!

Winning ugly is fine at this time. Definitely erases some of the frustration of last weekend.

Regarding the unanswered poser put by Yngwie - isn't it the case that LDZ's red card wasn't for violent conduct therefore he will serve a ban next cup game...not league game?

The second half was dire in the extreme but the main thing is three more points on the board with Killie, St Mirren and even Hamilton being dragged into the mix.

We'll need to play a good deal better next week at Westfield but the Falkirk nerves will be more frayed than ours.

The Falkirk game is one we can now afford to lose while Falkirk almost certainly will be doomed if they do.

Not a glittering second half performance but without doubt the biggest three points of the season so far (until next week). The players really dug out a win, which is what we will need to do until we are mathematically safe. Pavels was an absolute rock in central defence and deserved his man of the match, and i think his family or friends were in the main stand judging from his reaction when coming onto the pitch.

Esson was fantastic at dealing with Kyle, almmost man-marking him near the end. Up front, rooney put in a good shift and butch will find it hard to drop him next week. Foran is an absolute legend, putting himself on the line in every match, and scoring vital goals. I think he could be an important player from now until the end of the season, plus he seems to have warmed to the club already.

All in all, a superb three points, and everyone at the match couldn't care less about the 2nd half performance when the final whistle went, especially that dream team of el tel and mo.
